DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE/DUI
Illinois DUI laws have recently changed. As of January 1, 2006, a DUI may be a felony if you do not have a valid driver’s license and/or car insurance.
DRIVER’S LICENSE
In Illinois you may be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor if you drive without a valid driver’s license.
INSURANCE
Illinois law requires car insurance.
IMMIGRATION CONSEQUENCES
If you are not a United States citizen and you are convicted of a crime, you may be deported to your country of origin or citizenship to the United States may be denied in the future. |
